The Dhaka Times Desk The US space agency NASA plans to bring 30 samples of Martian rocks to Earth in 2033. They will also send two small helicopters to assist in this mission.
The company recently gave this information. In February 2021, NASA's Preservation Rover landed on Mars. The rover has so far collected 11 samples as part of its collection of evidence for the ancient existence of life on Mars. However, the process of bringing these samples to Earth for detailed research and observation in Earth labs is very complicated.
NASA plans to send another rover to collect samples from the preserve. The rover's well-equipped robotic lander, called the Mars Ascent Vehicle, is supposed to bring samples from Preservation through its own rocket to Mars' orbit, and then bring them back to Earth aboard a European spacecraft.
If NASA's Preservation does not work as planned for any reason, Preservation itself will deliver the collected sample cargo directly to the lander as a second option if Preservation's second 'Sample Fetch Rover' fails. Preservation will also use a robotic arm for that.
Despite this plan, NASA always has contingency plans in place. There are also backup plans in case preservation fails. According to this plan, NASA will send a lander to Mars in 2028. This lander will land on Mars in 2030. Both of these landers will carry small helicopters.
Preservation brought another of its own helicopters, the Ingenuity, to Mars. It was the first to conduct autonomous flight beyond Earth into the skies of Mars. It has flown at least 29 times so far.
While the newly delivered helicopters will both be slightly heavier, the wheeled helicopters will also be able to maneuver on the ground. It can also retrieve samples with a robotic arm.
At this stage preservation will first throw the samples into the ground. And the helicopter will pick them up. They will then transfer it to the return ascent vehicle (Mars Ascent Vehicle). The rover is expected to land in the Utah desert in the United States in 2033 with collected samples from Mars.
