The Dhaka Times Desk The bodies of 5 members of a family were recovered from the private car buried under the girder of the BRT project in Uttara of the capital.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed grief over this incident. Meanwhile, a three-member committee has been formed for proper investigation of this incident. It is said that the report will be given tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.
Two more members of that family (newlyweds) have been admitted to a local hospital with serious injuries, police said.
The accident happened today (Monday) around 4:30 pm on the road in front of Paradise Tower in Jasim Uddin area.
Police said the carrying crane tilted to one side as the box girder failed to balance while being lifted. Then the girder fell on a private car going to Gazipur and this incident happened.
The newly married couple Hriday (26) and Rhea Moni (21), who are undergoing treatment in the hospital, got married last Saturday.
The owner of the car Rubel (50), Fahima (42), Jharna (28), two children Jannat (6) and Zakaria (2) were buried inside the car. Their bodies were recovered after removing the guard around 7:30 pm.
Meanwhile, after the incident, all traffic from the Kuril flyover to Uttara was stopped, causing extreme traffic jam.
