The Dhaka Times Desk good morning Friday, August 26, 2022 AD, 11 Bhadra 1429 Bangad, 27 Muharram 1444 Hijri. Good morning everyone from The Dhaka Times. Happy birthday to all those whose birthday is today - happy birthday.
The mosque you see is a historical mosque in India. This mosque was built with soil from Mecca.
During the rule of the Qutub Shahi dynasty, present Hyderabad was once called Golconda. It was renamed Hyderabad during the reign of Nizam Asaf Zahir. The fifth Qutb Shahi Sultan Muhammad Quli wanted to build a mosque right in the middle of Hyderabad. He did exactly that, the main structure of the mosque would be granite, the arches would be brick.
He brought clay from the holy city of Makkah to make bricks. Bricks were made from the soil brought from Mecca, and the 15 arches of the mosque were built with those bricks. The main mosque has stood on these arches for about 400 years. Arches are also made of bricks made of Meccan clay. Hence it is called Makkah Masjid.
This mosque was the most spacious at that time. 220 feet in length and 180 feet in width. Its height is 75 feet. This Makkah mosque was built in the signature architectural style of the Qutb Shahi and Asaf Jahi periods.
