This news is reported in the information published in Check Point Research. A company in Turkey has created a fake Google Translate app for use on computers. Using which malware called Nitokod is entering the computer.
So far Google hasn't developed any separate apps for desktop computers. That's why many people have downloaded it thinking it's a translate app made by Google. Once this app is installed on the computer, various hackers around the world start mining crypto-currency.
This app has to be installed following the rules of other apps only after the download is complete. Then harmful malware is installed on the user's computer. Monero cryptocurrency mining is also started using the user's computer. This entire process will be done without the knowledge of the user.
As soon as it is installed, crypto mining will start on the computer. According to the CPR report, crypto mining will start by configuring everything itself. This app can still be found by searching Google as google translate desktop download.
The malware, called Nitocode, has been traced to computers in 11 countries so far. This malware has been around since 2019. CPR has also been aware of this malware several times.
To avoid Nitokod malware, never download Google Translate app on desktop computer. Google has not brought any such app so far. Use this translation service from your desktop from the Google Translate website by simply opening a browser.
Note that this type of malware attack is increasing day by day. But not only computer users, Android users are also targeted by hackers. Recently 50 apps were removed from Google Play Store. Malware has been detected in these apps.
