The Dhaka Times Desk Grameenphone, the connectivity partner of Digital Bangladesh, successfully conducted 5G trial in Dhaka and Chittagong on July 26 as the first step to play a role in realizing the goal of 'Smart Bangladesh'.
In this continuation, as part of its commitment to empowering society through technology and realizing the goal of Smart Bangladesh, this company, the country's tech service leader, has started a 5G trial for customers in eight divisional cities of the country.
For this purpose, an event was organized at GP House in the capital, where invited guests and media stakeholders were given the opportunity to experience using 5G services at Grameenphone's Innovation Lab. They experienced various technologies including VR gaming, AR video, robotic arms, AR selfie and cloud gaming.
BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikdar was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Also present was the Commissioner of BTRC's E&O Department. Mohiuddin Ahmed, Commissioner of Legal and Licensing Division Syed Dilzar Hossain, Director General of Spectrum Division Brigadier General Mohammad Moniruzzaman Jewell, PSC, Brigadier General Md. Nasim Parvez NDC, AFWC, PSC, Director General System and Service Division, Ashish Kumar Kundu, Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman , the company's Chief Marketing Officer Sajjad Hasib, Chief Digital Officer Solaiman Alam, Chief Technology Officer Joy Prakash, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Hans Martin Henriksen, along with Grameenphone and other senior officials from Wipro, Huawei, ZTE partners. Grameenphone CEO Yasir Azman presented the keynote on 5G at the event.
Previously, on July 26, Grameenphone conducted a 5G trial with use cases in Dhaka and Chittagong for the first time in the country. In continuation of which, this tech service leader company has given customers in 8 divisions of the country the opportunity to experience the use of 5G services.
BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder said, “The number of internet and smartphone users is continuously increasing across the country. This proves that our country is going through digital transformation. We know there are challenges in service delivery where we are all working together. But this is not to say that new technologies cannot be welcomed. To take advantage of technology in harmony with our world, all technologies must be brought to the people.
