The Dhaka Times Desk Recently, an award program titled 'Berger Award for Students of Fine Art, University of Dhaka' was held. Barger awarded the meritorious students of DU Faculty of Fine Arts.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between Berger and Dhaka University Fine Arts Faculty on December 31, 2017 to recognize students with the highest CGPA in undergraduate programs. This award program is part of that.
One of the objectives of this program is to provide financial support to the most talented students (who are in the final stages of their academic studies) of the Faculty of Fine Arts. Also, this program was aimed at honoring the academic excellence of students of this faculty and encouraging young artists to pursue their studies with keen interest.
The Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of Dhaka University was present as the chief guest. Muhammad Samad and Dean of Faculty of Arts Professor Nisar Hossain. On the other hand, Managing Director Rupali Chowdhury, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Mohsin Habib Chowdhury, Chief Business Officer AKM Sadek Nawaz, Chief Marketing Officer Tanzin Ferdous Alam and Head Channel Engagement AMM Fazlur Rashid were present on behalf of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited.
The event awards students for achieving good results by obtaining the highest CGPA in the undergraduate program. 8 meritorious students were awarded under 8 departments of Dhaka University Faculty of Fine Arts. The students of BFA Honors 2020 batch awarded this year are: Tulsi Rani Das of Drawing and Painting Department, Md. of Graphics Design Department. Ibrahim Hossain, Kamrun Nahar Mim of Printmaking Department, Maria Mim of Oriental Art Department, Halima Akhter of Ceramics Department, Govind Pal of Sculpture Department, Suhana Shihab Ima of Crafts Department and Zahidul Islam of History of Art Department.
Apart from the merit-based awards, another award (Berger Student of the Year) is given to the best students in 7 disciplines (except History of Art) based on practical examination. An exhibition was organized based on the practical artworks of the students with the highest CGPA of the graduate program in their respective departments to select the winner of the “Berger Student of the Year Award”. The exhibition will run from 11 am to 6:45 pm daily from November 20-26 at Charukala Zainul Gallery. News bulletins.
