The Dhaka Times Desk Seven people were killed in a roadside bomb explosion in northern Afghanistan yesterday (Tuesday).
The bomb blast occurred when the employees of the petroleum company were traveling in a bus. The news agency AFP said this information in a report citing the provincial police spokesperson.
Asif Waziri of Balkh police station in Mazar-e-Sharif said, 'The bomb was planted in a cargo vehicle parked on the side of the road. The bomb was detonated as soon as the bus reached there.'
Since retaking power in August last year, the Taliban claims to have improved security across the country, but the country has seen a spate of bomb blasts and attacks. The local Islamic State group has also claimed responsibility for many of these attacks.
Waziri told AFP news agency that the explosion occurred near the city's Syed Abed Square at around 7 am local time. 6 people were injured in this explosion.
No further details were immediately available. So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Earlier this month, at least 19 people were killed and 24 others injured in a deadly bomb blast at a madrassa in the southeastern Aybek area of Mazar-e-Sharif.
