The Dhaka Times Desk Afghanistan's former female lawmaker Mursal Nabizada has been shot dead by terrorists. One of his bodyguards was killed in the firing. This incident happened at his house in the country's capital, Kabul.
Qatar-based media Al Jazeera gave this information in a report on Monday (January 16).
According to that information, a former Afghan female parliament member and one of her bodyguards were killed in her home in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. Mursal Nabizada, who was killed, was a member of the US-backed government's parliament. That government was ousted by the Taliban in 2021. She is one of the few female parliamentarians in Afghanistan who remained in Kabul after the Taliban took over.
Khalid Zadran, a Kabul police spokesman, said Nabizada and one of his bodyguards were shot dead at his home. Security forces have started an investigation into the incident.
Local police chief Maulvi Hamidullah Khalid said the former Afghan lawmaker was shot and killed around 3pm on Sunday. Nabizada's brother and the second security guard were injured and the third security guard escaped with money and jewellery.
Abdullah, a top official in Afghanistan's former Western-backed government, said he was saddened by Nabizada's death and hoped the perpetrators would be punished. He also referred to the slain Prophet as a representative and servant of the people.
Note that Nabizada was elected to represent Kabul in 2019. He was also a member of the Parliamentary Defense Commission and worked at the non-governmental group Human Resource Development and Research Institute.
