Such incidents are unheard of. American citizen Troy Heller never thought either. But his luck is happy. A letter thrown into the sea 37 years ago he got back without asking!
The incident of getting the letter back happened on November 13 last year. That day Katie Carmax and Annie Carmax were walking on that beach in Sebastian, Florida. The area was previously hit by Hurricane Nicole. That day some teachers were also cleaning up the garbage accumulated on the beach due to the hurricane.
They hand Katie and Annie a bottle. There was a letter in that bottle. The letter also contained Troy Heller's name, an address and phone number. Using this information, Katie and Annie begin searching for Troy online. It was later discovered that a man of the same name lived in Mount Washington, Kentucky.
Then both of them called that address. Troy didn't pick up the phone after seeing the unknown number. Later he was surprised to see a small message. He said, 'Whenever I saw the message, I remembered the incident of putting the letter in the bottle and throwing it away.'
Reminiscing, Troy said he visited Vero Beach, Florida in 1985. He was only 10 years old then. At that time he threw the bottle into the sea water. But he didn't expect it to be the same after nearly four decades.
After finding Troy, Katie and Annie send him the letter. Troy currently has the letter framed with his picture. The photo was taken when he dropped the bottle with the letter into the water.
Troy told the media, 'It's something you can never imagine. I thought of throwing the bottle in the water and see how far it goes. But to finally have the bottle back to me after all these years is really amazing!'
