Although it will not be visible to the naked eye due to the full moon, astronomers will have a good chance to observe it on January 21-22, Paris astronomer Nicolas Biver told AFP. The comet is named C/2022 E3 (ZTF), after the California-based Zwicky Transient Facility. The comet was first detected by the Zwicky Transient Facility when it passed Jupiter in March last year. NASA scientists of the United States of America said that this planet will cross the Sun on January 12.
After February 1 i.e. when the comet crosses Mars on February 10, it will still be visible. The comet will be at its closest distance to Earth on February 1. It can then be seen in the night sky with the help of binoculars or with the naked eye. However, if there is a full moon at that time, it will be difficult to see the comet due to the excess of light. Thomas Prince, professor of physics at the California Institute of Technology, said, 'As the comet approaches Earth, it will be easier to see its structure with telescopes. It can also provide information about our solar system and the planets beyond it.'
January 21 and 22 may be the best time to see it, said Nicolas Biver, an astrophysicist at the Paris Observatory. The comet came from an area called the Oort Cloud. The Oort Cloud is basically a giant sphere around the Solar System, which is also believed to be home to mysterious icy objects. Before that, when this comet last passed the Earth, Neanderthals also roamed the Earth.
French astrophysicist Nicolas Biver said that 'this comet will pass the Earth completely outside the solar system. Scientists are researching the structure of this comet. That is why NASA's James Webb Telescope is being used in this field.'
