The Bangladeshi won the biggest prize of the 247 series in the first 'Big Ticket Raffle Draw' of the new year in the capital Abu Dhabi.
Emirates-based daily Khaleej Times has reported that the name of the expatriate Bangladeshi who won a large sum of money in the lottery in the United Arab Emirates is Mohammad Raiful. He is a resident of Al Ain, UAE and a driver by profession.
Khaleej Times says that Mohammad Raiful of Al Ain City won the biggest ever prize with a ticket bought on December 10 last year. His ticket number was 043678.
The Big Ticket Lottery was launched almost 3 decades ago in 1992 to promote Abu Dhabi Airport and the city. This lottery draw is held every month. Prize money value for first place varies monthly. The first prize was 35 crore dirhams (which is about 105 crores in Bangladeshi currency) in January to mark the English New Year.
Indian national Umshad Ulli Vetil won the second prize in this phase of the lottery. He received 10 lakh dirhams. 3 other Indians Nirshad Nazar, Robin Qadian and Abdul Burhan Puthiavetil won 1 lakh dirhams each.
