According to a report by Outlook India, the groom broke up the marriage recently in Hyderabad citing an old complaint of furniture given as dowry. The bride's father has also lodged a written complaint with the police station. The wedding date was fixed on February 19.
The bride took all the preparations starting from cooking. However, the groom, a bus driver by profession, did not attend the wedding ceremony on the appointed day. The father of the bride told the media that he was mistreated when he went to the groom's house.
He said that they complained that the things he wanted as dowry were not given and the furniture given was very old. So they refused to come to the wedding. The bride's father also said, 'I have arranged food for the wedding, invited all the relatives and guests. But still the groom did not come.'
Based on the written complaint, the police said, the groom's family demanded furniture among various items as dowry. However, it is alleged that the bride's family has given old furniture.
It is known that the groom's family rejected it and did not show up on the wedding day. A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Dowry Prohibition Act has also been registered in this regard. The local police are investigating the matter.
