The Dhaka Times Desk Israeli scientists say that they have now been able to identify the 'voices' spoken by plants. The groundbreaking research by Tel Aviv University researchers was recently published in the prestigious scientific journal 'Cell'.
According to a report in the Times of Israel, recent studies have shown that plants can also respond to sound. For example, trees may increase the concentration of sugar in the nectar of their flowers to attract buzzing insects.
Moreover, scientists have already known that plants can communicate with each other in various ways if they are under pressure! For example, they change the color of the leaves, taste bitter or smell, and they can communicate the message of danger to other plants.
Israeli researchers have not only been able to identify plant 'voices', but they have also discovered that different plant species communicate with each other in different 'languages'. They also recorded sounds made by stressed plants from a certain distance.
Scientists have said that plants mainly carry out 'conversation' through clicks. This sound is similar to the sound that popcorn makes when it pops. These sounds are very similar to human speech, but have a much higher frequency, which scientists believe is beyond the range of human hearing.
