The Dhaka Times Desk As the moon of the month of Shawwal was sighted in Saudi Arabia yesterday (Thursday), the holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the country today (Friday).
Generally, Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated in Bangladesh one day after Saudi Arabia. As such, it is believed that the holy Eid-ul-Fitr may be celebrated in Bangladesh tomorrow, Saturday (April 22). However, a decision in this regard will be taken after the meeting of the Moon Sighting Committee on Friday.
According to local media reports in Saudi Arabia, the crescent moon of the holy month of Shawwal was sighted in Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening. Therefore, the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 will be celebrated on April 21 in the country. This date marks the first day of the month of Shawwal in the Islamic calendar.
It is to be noted that since the moon was not sighted in Indonesia and Malaysia yesterday, it is known that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated tomorrow (Saturday).
