The Dhaka Times Desk Khatib was publicly shot dead during Eid al-Fitr prayers in Yemen. The incident took place on Friday (April 21) local time in Bihan city of southeastern Shabwa province.
The deceased Khatib's name is Sheikh Abdullah Albani. He was a member of Yemen's largest Islamist party Al-Islah Reform Party. He also served as Director General of Public Health and Population Directorate of Bihan city.
According to Anatoly news agency website, Sheikh Abdullah Albani, a member of Yemen's Reform Party, delivered a sermon at the end of the Eid al-Fitr congregation. Later, miscreants shot him dead in the presence of worshippers. The country's deputy information minister Muhammad Kiran admitted the matter. So far no party or group has accepted the responsibility of this murder.
The head of Yemen's Presidential Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, demanded that Shabwa Governor Awad Al-Awlaki find out the reason for the killing and arrest the killers and bring them to justice.
