The Dhaka Times Desk Bangladesh has once again been elected as the representative member of the Asian region of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Council.
On Thursday (July 6), the ongoing 43rd FAO Conference was held with the participation of representatives of 194 member states.
In this election, Bangladesh was unanimously elected as a member for the period from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2027.
According to media reports, Bangladesh will take the lead with other member states in overseeing FAO's activities at the policy and executive level of the Council, budget implementation, monitoring activities under the results-based framework and implementing and monitoring the decisions of the Governing Council.
It is known that the Bangladesh Embassy in Italy plays an active role in being re-elected as a member of the FAO Council.
The ongoing 43rd conference at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations is being held through hybrid media in Rome, Italy.
