BAFF president Kazi Salauddin has formed a three-member investigation committee with Badal Roy as the chairman to find the cause of the team's disappointment despite having camped for about a month under the supervision of coach Lodvik de Cruyff. The other two members of the committee are Tabith Awal and Shamsul Haque Chowdhury.
Kazi Salahuddin said at the press conference on Monday yesterday, "There is no need to think about how well the boys have played. The important thing is that our clean mission is over in just two to three minutes. India had to concede a goal in the last minute. Same situation with Pakistan. The players did not try until the final whistle. Should have tried till the very last moment. Efforts have been made to get the team in good condition."
He further said, “Many have many questions about Saaf's failure. But I didn't answer any of those questions. I wanted to tell everything after talking to the national team committee and the coach." Salahuddin said, "I want to make the team stronger for the future without thinking about the past." Ten times this will be attempted in the next round. There was no error in the efforts of the Dutch coaches. And the results of our mission may not be available now, but I will say that we are moving in the right direction."
As part of future team building, it has been decided to send age-wise teams to various international tournaments from next month. On October 5, the U-10 and U-12 teams will go to South Korea to participate in the festival tournament. And the U-16 team is going to Kyrgyzstan on October 25. Besides, the youth team will go to Iraq in early October to play the AFC U-19 qualifiers.
Salahuddin reminded the journalists present about his promise, "We want to play the World Cup in 2022. I am still and will be on that goal. Now we look to the future. One thing I understand is that we need more young players. But don't expect big things from the youth right now. We want them to play, to experience. Let's first understand how an international match is. Understand how our opponent is. We can make a promise to field a stronger team for the upcoming SAF and other tournaments."
