15 Bangladeshi students got 'Top in the World' award in Cambridge International Exam

The Dhaka Times Desk 15 Bangladeshi students have won the 'Top in the World' award at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards program jointly organized by the British Council Bangladesh and Cambridge International Education.

The students of the country received this recognition for their outstanding performance in the Cambridge examination held in June 2023. The event was organized on March 7 at the Radisson Blu in the capital Dhaka.

Cambridge International Education awarded a total of 79 awards to 67 Bangladeshi students at the 2023 Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards (OCLA). This award is given to the highest performing students from around the world. The organization has been conducting this international examination for the last 160 years and every year more than 1 million students from the world take Cambridge International Education courses. The award is given in 4 categories - Top in the World, High Achievement Award, Top in Country and Best Across. Among them, 15 students of the country were recognized as Top in the World; That is, they have achieved the highest results in the world in a particular subject. Of these 15 winners, 11 achieved the award in the subjects of Cambridge A Level, Cambridge International AS & A Level and Cambridge IGCSE.

Acting British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Matt Cannell was present as the chief guest on the occasion. Also present at the event were Arun Rajamani, Managing Director, Cambridge University Press and Assessment, South Asia; British Council Director of Programs David Knox; Exams Director Maxim Ryman; Cambridge International Education Bangladesh Country Director Shaheen Reza and British Council Examinations Director Operations Junaid Ahmed and Business Development Director Sarwat Reza.

How to prevent dengue

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral fever. This fever is different from other viral or bacterial fevers. However, this fever is not contagious in any way. This viral fever can occur alone or in combination with other viruses (chikungunya, yellow fever, Burma forest, flu, respiratory syncytial) and bacteria (pneumococcus).

Dengue fever is divided into two categories depending on the severity of symptoms and fever.

2. Fluid accumulation in chest or abdomen along with fever.

If any of these symptoms appear, seek medical attention immediately.

Wait at home for the first 3 days of fever. On the other hand, sponge the whole body with water every now and then. This will reduce the level of fever. Drink enough water and rest. After that, if the fever does not decrease or if it continues to increase after some time, consult a doctor immediately.

Things to do to prevent Dengue:

1. Try to keep the surroundings of the house as clean as possible.

2. If there are flower tubs or broken plastic bottles, can shells, tires or polythene inside the house, clean them quickly and drain the accumulated water from the flower tubs.

3. Spray or fog at least 3 times a week to kill mosquitoes.

4. You can keep mosquito repellent cream with you while going out.

5. After evening, younger and older members of the household should use mosquito nets.

6. Clean up any accumulated rain water, as this is the time when Aedes mosquitoes lay their eggs.

7. On the other hand, you can use mats along with mosquito nets to avoid mosquito infestation.
