The Dhaka Times Desk Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), the top trade organization in the software and information technology services sector, has 33 candidates running for the executive committee elections for the 2024-26 term.
Yesterday (April 17) was the last day for withdrawal of nominations. A total of 8 members including 6 ordinary members, 1 associate and 1 affiliate withdrew their nomination papers. That is, a total of 33 candidates are fighting in this election.
It is known that according to the final candidate list, he is participating in the election as a general member - M. Asif Rahman, Md. Mostafizur Rahman Sohail, Muhammad Aminullah, Muhammad Risalat Siddiqui, Liaquat Hossain, Uttam Kumar Pal, Mir Shahrukh Islam, Syeda Nafiza Reza, ASM Rafiq Ullah, Iqbal Ahmed Fakhrul Hasan, Imran Hossain, Taufiqul Karim Suhrid, Mustafa Rafiqul Islam Duke, Md. . Shafiul Alam, Manjurul Alam Mamun, Syeda Naushad Jahan Promi, Niaz Morshed Elite, KAM Rashedul Majid, Didarul Alam, Md. Shahibur Rahman Khan Rana, Farzana Kabir Ishita, Rashidul Hasan, Russell T Ahmed and AKM Ahmedul Islam Babu.
Syed Abdullah Zayed, Arman Ahmed Khan and NM Rafsan Johnny Sameer are participating in the election as associate members.
Lutfi Haider Chowdhury, Biplab Ghosh Rahul and Abdul Aziz are in this list of valid nomination papers of affiliate members.
Abu Muhammad Rashed Mujib Noman, AHM Hasinul Quddus (RUSSO) and Syed Mohammad Kamal are participating in the election as international members of this list.
As per this election schedule, the list of valid nomination papers was released on April 4 (Thursday). Eight members withdrew their nomination papers by 4 pm on Wednesday (April 17), the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers. The final list of candidates will be officially published on April 20.
Basis election votes will be accepted at Rawa Convention Center in the capital from 10 am to 5 pm on May 8. After the election, the election results will be announced on the same day.
The total number of voters in this election of BASIS is 1 thousand 464 people. Among them 932 ordinary, 389 associates, 134 affiliates and 9 international member voters. The total membership of BASIS is 2 thousand 401 people.
According to a source of BASIS Secretariat, TIM Nurul Kabir as Chairman and Syed Mamnoon Quader and Nazim Farhan Chowdhury as 3 member Election Board has been formed to conduct BASIS elections. A 3-member election appeal board has also been constituted. The Appellate Board has Chairman A Tauhid and Members Abdullah H Kafi and Nazneen Kamal.

How to prevent dengue
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral fever. This fever is different from other viral or bacterial fevers. However, this fever is not contagious in any way. This viral fever can occur alone or in combination with other viruses (chikungunya, yellow fever, Burma forest, flu, respiratory syncytial) and bacteria (pneumococcus).
Dengue fever is divided into two categories depending on the severity of symptoms and fever.

1. Sudden high fever lasting 2 to 7 days.
2. Severe headache.

6. Nausea or vomiting.
7. A rash or red bumps on the skin.
In case of dengue fever with bleeding:
1. Bleeding from nose, mouth or vomiting with high fever within 2 to 48 hours.
2. Fluid accumulation in chest or abdomen along with fever.
If any of these symptoms appear, seek medical attention immediately.
On the other hand
Wait at home for the first 3 days of fever. On the other hand, sponge the whole body with water every now and then. This will reduce the level of fever. Drink enough water and rest. After that, if the fever does not decrease or if it continues to increase after some time, consult a doctor immediately.
Things to do to prevent Dengue:
1. Try to keep the surroundings of the house as clean as possible.
2. If there are flower tubs or broken plastic bottles, can shells, tires or polythene inside the house, clean them quickly and drain the accumulated water from the flower tubs.
3. Spray or fog at least 3 times a week to kill mosquitoes.
4. You can keep mosquito repellent cream with you while going out.
5. After evening, younger and older members of the household should use mosquito nets.
6. Clean up any accumulated rain water, as this is the time when Aedes mosquitoes lay their eggs.
7. On the other hand, you can use mats along with mosquito nets to avoid mosquito infestation.
