Initiatives have been taken to retain the history of these money or coins. The collection of this museum has been established to witness the history of these coins or coins. And Bangladesh Bank has taken such a unique initiative with money. This initiative will always bear witness to the history and culture of the nation.

The money museum started its journey in the country with the sole interest of the institution. This 'money museum' was established on the second floor of Bangladesh Bank Training Academy in Mirpur-2 of the capital. One of the objectives of the establishment of the Taka Museum is to nurture, preserve and present the ancient currency of modern Bengal and the subcontinent.

Money Museum-1 gallery of Bangladesh Bank, established in a limited scale in Taka Museum, has preserved and displayed various types of metal coins, paper notes and currency-related items, printed and preserved from ancient times to the present day.

Among the coins preserved in the Taka Museum are the earliest printed silver coins (punch marked), Hakuchbehar coins, Kushan coins, coins of the independent Sultanate period of Bengal, coins of mighty Mughal emperors, Rikal coins, Indo-Parthian coins. There are also British Indian coins in use since 1835 after the end of Mughal rule in India. From time immemorial to the end of the nineteenth century, kadi was the main medium of exchange in retail trade in Bangladesh. All these cards used in ancient Bengal are also seen displayed in the museum.

Coins of almost all countries including present day USA, England, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Japan, Argentina, New Zealand, South Africa, Nepal, Bhutan, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are also displayed in this museum. So far 11 commemorative coins and 3 commemorative notes have been printed to commemorate various important events, days and people of Bangladesh including the great language movement, liberation war. Which is displayed here. Gold souvenirs of International Mother Language Day-2000 are displayed for sale at Tk 50,000. Besides, there is a souvenir shop in the money museum. The souvenir shop has all commemorative coins, commemorative notes, various souvenirs along with various books and reports published by Bangladesh Bank. Those concerned said that visitors can buy all these items cheaply if they want.

Tucker Museum will be open from Saturday to Wednesday from 11 am to 5 pm with no entry fee. Friday will be from 4 pm to 7 pm. This museum will be closed on Thursday.
