The Dhaka Times Desk The 48-hour nationwide blockade on Tuesday and Wednesday has been extended to 71 hours after rejecting the election schedule announced by the Election Commission. There was massive violence yesterday as well. At least 7 people died. Today 1 injured person died.

The 48-hour strike called by the opposition was supposed to end early today but has been extended to 71 hours. The blockade will continue till 5 am tomorrow Friday. Meanwhile, there was a massive violence incident yesterday. 6 people died yesterday in different parts of the country. During the siege in the capital, 5 people were sentenced to 6 months imprisonment by the mobile court.

Laguna driver Mozammel (22), who was burnt in Dakshina Banasree on the first day of the blockade, died today. Widespread violence was reported in various places even today. It is known that on the first day of the siege last Tuesday around 7:30 pm, the besiegers stopped and vandalized his Laguna in front of the Mothertech project in Dakshina Banasri and later put him in a car and set it on fire by pouring petrol. With the help of the local public, he was rescued and admitted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College. He died at around 1 am on Wednesday in the ICU in the burn unit while undergoing treatment.

Due to the blocking of the railway line at Kuliarchar in Kishoreganj, all the trains on that route have stopped.
4 treks of the route are stuck due to uprooting of railway line at Atrai in Naogaon. On the other hand, the Shantahar-Lalmonirhat train service was stopped due to the uprooting of the railway line at Satantala.

Meanwhile, 3 coaches of Udayan Express with engine derailed due to opening of face plate at Ashok floor. It has stopped train movement on Dhaka-Chittagong-Sylhet route.

3 coaches of the Sirajganj express train derailed and the train movement on the Ishwardi-Sirajganj line was stopped yesterday as the line was uprooted in Sirajganj.

Yesterday, Wednesday, the second day of the 18 party blockade program has passed. 7 more people died in violence across the country. At least 30 people were shot.
