The Dhaka Times Desk The largest monster ship in the history of the world has finally floated in the water, the height of this ship named Prelude is 1601 feet and its weight is 6 lakh tons!
If another 150 feet were added to the Empire State Building, it would equal the Prelude. Calling Prelude a ship would be a mistake, it is a huge floating gas refining (floating liquefied natural gas) station!
After a year-long construction process in South Korea, the massive vessel has finally set sail for Western Australia, where it will remain in Western Australia for nearly 25 years, where it will be used for gas refining.
Prelude will extract, process, and transport approximately 3.9 million tons of liquefied natural gas per year from the subsea to various destinations via medium-sized vessels.
According to engineers, this vessel will produce liquefied natural gas equivalent to the size of 175 Olympic swimming pools per year, which will play an important role in tackling future energy crises. The ship has huge turbines that will help it stay steady against the currents of the water along with 3 massive 6,700 horsepower engines that will help it stay safely at sea even in a magnitude 5 hurricane.
Prelude will be based in Western Australia for a long 25 years by 2017 and there it is floating liquefied natural gas As a station will run large-scale operations.
