The Dhaka Times Desk As the price increases, a kg of onion is stuck at 1500. All the records in the history of Bangladesh have been broken this time. The prices of other products are also increasing abnormally due to the strike.
110 in the wholesale market, but there is a big difference in the retail market. Onions are selling from 140 to 150 taka in the retail market. Traders cited the blockade-strike as the reason for the rise in prices. The prices of several products including rice-dal, salt-oil have increased to block the strike. Since the communication system of the country is very broken. But onion is the only product whose price has increased at an abnormal rate. But now new onions have started to rise. In the last one week, the price of onion has come down. But suddenly the price has increased abnormally in the last two days. Traders feel that not only the hartal-blockade but also a vicious cycle or syndicate is responsible for the rise in onion prices. Some big crooks have created this situation.
A few days ago, onions were sold for only 65 to 80 taka. However, many businessmen said again, strike, blockade, vandalism, fire, risk of life, above all because the truck fare has increased several times, not only onions, but all products will be like this. Meanwhile, due to the political instability, the price of onion is increasing uncontrollably, so the general buyers are very disappointed and worried.
On the other hand, the import of other products has also come to a standstill. Although the import of raw materials in the capital is good, the farmers in the poor cities are not getting the price at all. In rural areas, those who are producing brinjal, coffee, beans and other raw curries are selling it at the price of water. The condition of various markets in various district towns is absolutely pathetic. Farmers are losing interest in production. Eggplant is being sold at the price of Tk 10 per kg in Joypurhat market. These eggplant farmers are not able to sell more than 3/4 per kg. A farmer said, if we have to produce brinjal with the wages of fertilizer and seeds and we have to sell it at 3/4 per kg, then it is better to stay at home without producing it. Because the wholesale traders buy eggplants at Tk 4 and sell them at the rate of Tk 6/7 per kg. Because there is no situation to take the goods to any other place including Dhaka, the farmers are not getting the price at all. In this way, not only brinjal, new potatoes, full kopi, bandha kopi and other raw vegetables are the same. A large size bound copy is being sold in Mofswal town for just Rs.10/12. But such a bound copy is still being sold in the capital for 25 to 35 taka.
Due to strike and blockade, the prices of all products are increasing. It is known that the reason for the increase in the rent of trucks is that the truck owners do not want to take the trucks out due to such unstable conditions, the frequent incidents of setting fire to the vehicles. Due to such situation, truck fares have increased overnight. This increase has an impact on product imports. The prices of goods are increasing abnormally. No one knows when this situation will improve.
