Since the election day on January 5, some individuals have been attacking minorities one after another. Although everyone is protesting against it, there is no result in reality. The victims do not understand why the local administration is not taking proper action against these attackers.
Minorities were attacked in Joypurhat. One person also died due to panic caused by the flames that were given to the house. The houses of minorities in Joypurhat are being burnt one by one by fire set by Jamaat-Shibir and BNP workers. The violence that started in the last week of February last year after the death sentence of Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Saeedee was announced. The latest victim of Jamaat-Shibir violence is Suzen Chandra Das. Sujen Chandra Das (58) died of panic after seeing his huge pile of straw burning in a fire set by Jamaat-Shibir in a village in Sonakul village on Tuesday night. That same night, the house of Sukumar Das was set on fire in Parulia village of Sadar upazila. A businessman's business establishment was burnt in the Panchbibi Municipal area of Joypurhat on the same night. They are now suffering from extreme insecurity due to continuous burning of minority houses.
Awami League leader's house and a haystack of a Hindu house were set ablaze by miscreants at Naldanga in Natore. Miscreants set fire to the house of an Awami League worker in Chatarbhag village of Naldanga upazila and 8 straw piles belonging to the minority community in two villages of Singra upazila. The fire incident took place late on Tuesday night. There is panic in the minority community due to this fire incident. On the other hand, the Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Parishad has given a memorandum to the district administration on Wednesday protesting these arson incidents and demanding the arrest of those involved.
Miscreants set fire to temples in Trishal and Netrakona in Mymensingh. Miscreants tried to set fire to a temple in Kalirbazar area of Trishal. According to local sources, miscreants on a motorcycle came to Tarafbari Dayal temple in Kalirbazar Tirkhi village of Kanihari union of Trishal upazila on Tuesday night. Local residents extinguished the fire.
Miscreants poured kerosene and set fire to Kalimandir in Battala village of Kalmakanda Sadar Union of Netrakona district last Tuesday night. In this, the hair of the three idols of the temple and the clothes used to decorate the idols were burnt. In the morning, Anil Biswas, president of the temple committee, opened the door of the temple and saw smoke coming out from inside.
On the other hand, the people of the minority families are terrified of the attack in Moulvibazar. Elderly Sujen Das fell to his death after seeing miscreants set fire to the straw pile of his house in Sonakul village of Joypurhat on Tuesday night.
In Naogaon's Raninagar, miscreants set fire to a car loaded with cotton and the haystacks of 11 families on the same night. This incident happened late on Tuesday night. Locals said miscreants set fire to a cotton vat next to Rezaul cotton mill in Kubratali area on Tuesday midnight. The cotton vat got burnt.
In this way, attacks on minorities are happening one after another in different parts of the country. If the government does not bring this situation under control by taking necessary measures on an urgent basis, the reputation of Bangladesh, which is known as a country of communal harmony, will be damaged and violence will spread in the remote areas of the country, which will never bring good to the country.
