The Dhaka Times Desk Looking at this island, you might think it's a modern movie set or a European fancy prison! It is actually a studio created by Swander Architecture.
It is located on Fogo Island near Newfoundland, Canada. This island is already a place of tranquility and full of natural beauty. The studio at Fogo Island is beautiful, clean, fresh and modern at the same time.
The Long Studio is a perfect combination of modern design and royalty.
For most designers, working or living here is a dream come true.
Either way, the studio has robbed the island of its natural beauty.
Few people live here so the island is practically uninhabited.
The long studio is full of natural light and its white color makes the inside feel brighter than the outside.
If you enter it, you will not think that you are at work or that you are on the planet called Earth!
Called the “Long Studio” it is not only designed for relaxation but also reflects the natural form of its surroundings:
“The basic idea of creating the studio is keeping in mind the changing seasons. The studio is organized on three different levels that correspond linearly. An open but covered area showing the opening of seasonal activities in the spring season is essentially the studio's main entrance. The area to the left of the center of the studio shows the long summer of Fogo Island. The last and main part of the studio is fully enclosed to stay free from the outside weather. Aesthetically, the long linear structure of this studio makes the space very open. Tall windows and skylights flood the interior of the studio with natural light.”
The studio's pillars are placed at the end where the sea begins, with a small concrete base entrance. Which shows the whole landscape architecture. This type of construction style studios can be set up anywhere on the island.
Fogo Island has a variety of distinctive studios but I prefer Long Studios anyway. Because here I feel the outdoors from the inside, you will too.
