Sara Union is located very close to Ishwardi city. It is a union but not far from Ishwardi Municipal area. However, hundreds of houses are being destroyed by the river in this Sara Ghat. There seems to be no one to watch.
The number of people in Sara Union is only about 30 thousand. Sara is an important union of Ishwardi upazila. Today, this traditional Sarana union is going to be merged into the thickets of Padma. Thousands of houses have already been destroyed. The most surprising thing is that there is no record of the river breaking during the dry season. However, the breaking of the Sara River has also defied that rule. River erosion continues in this dry season as well. It is reported that 375 houses were destroyed in the last 1 month. In this way, houses, schools and colleges are constantly being destroyed and disappearing into the river. If the destruction continues like this, not only Sara, but also the city of Ishwardi will be under threat. Because the river break area of Sara Ghat is not far from Ishwardi city.
As a result of the destruction, not only the houses, but also schools, colleges, mosques and madrasas are not spared from the claws of this fierce grass.
Ishwardi residents have been demanding to make Ishwardi a district for a long time. If Ishwardi is to be made a district, the areas where there is a possibility of having important offices and courts with the office of the Jail District Commissioner, Peerpur, Majhdia area are very close to the river break area. That is why the future of not only Sara Union, but the entire Ishwardi depends on this river break. The breach of this river will appear as a big obstacle in the case of the demand to make Ishwardi a district. So people of Ishwardi think that preventing the breakdown of camels is a big challenge for us today. In any case, this river should be prevented from breaking. But there is a hope here is the efforts of our local MP Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu. He has already appealed to the higher level of the government to take measures to prevent this river from breaking. It has already come a long way. He said it is currently under process. Effective steps can be taken to prevent river erosion as soon as possible.
When the local member of parliament Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu was contacted in this regard, he informed about the efforts to protect the local residents from this severe attack. He said, if this river erosion is not prevented, Ishwardi city will be under threat.
Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu MP also said, I am trying my best. We will prevent the river from breaking. He said, a project has been undertaken in this regard, currently it is under process. Even the highest levels of the government are aware of river erosion. Currently it is in Ministry of Planning. This project will go to Eknek soon. Then this project will be implemented as soon as possible. He further said that since this is a matter of public importance, this project has been taken up on priority basis.
Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu MP said that many steps have been taken for the development of Ishwardi after the present government came to power. We have a financial crisis. Still we are trying to develop the area.
Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu said, many people are sarcastic at this stage of building digital Bangladesh today. But one day will come when people will enjoy the benefits of this digital Bangladesh. Then the people will remember the Awami League government. He said that people have started getting the benefits of digital Bangladesh now. Now people are getting results of various exams including SSC, HSC sitting at home. People can now pay electricity bills at home. In this way, when the people will get everything at their fingertips, they will understand what the digital Bangladesh of the Honorable Prime Minister is.

The erosion of Padma river in Ishwardi has been going on for three ages. But no real initiative to build a permanent dam has been taken yet. Flood water is rising in Padma river in Sara union of Ishwardi. And the people of 7 villages including Arambaria on the banks of the river are now having sleepless nights. The fear of erosion is increasing. Last time, hundreds of houses of 10 villages including Palpara of this union were washed away by Vita river. So this time the people of Arambaria village are afraid of river erosion.
Residents said that the left bank of Padma River, five kilometers long from Komarpur of Sara Union to Sara Jhowdia village, is feared to be eroded by this flood. Arambaria in Sara is among the most dangerous. UP Chairman Jurgis Hossain said that erosion has been continuing on the left bank of Padma River for a long time. This erosion has intensified in the last decade. As a result of the river erosion, about 500 acres of unpaved homesteads, schools, mosques-temples, bridges, karlbhats, business establishments, cottage industry, ice mills, crop lands of 20 villages of Sara Union have been lost in the river. As a result, 300 affected families have lost their homes and taken shelter in different areas.
The chairman said that the Palads have been living in Arambaria village on the left bank of the Padma river for hundreds of years. Last year, the Palpara river disappeared due to severe erosion. Now the people of the village near the bank of Palpara have stopped sleeping. Many are trying to seek shelter elsewhere. The chairman also said that ten villages located on the left bank of the river including Sara, Komarpur, Arambaria, Shekerchak, Gopalpur, Majhdia, Jhowdia are currently under threat. It has been seen that the padma river has come close to Arambaria market. Arambaria High and Primary School is just 20 yards away from the river. The fear of erosion in the eyes of the villagers. They said that every year when the water in the river increases and when the water decreases, the erosion starts in the river. According to Sara Union sources, construction of permanent protective dam was completed in the last financial year with the cooperation of Rajshahi Water Development Board up to the border of Lalpur Upazila of neighboring Natore district.
We hope that the project undertaken to prevent river erosion should be implemented quickly to protect the river. Ishwardi city will be under threat and the development of the region will also be hindered if the buffalo cannot be protected from Padma's kraal grazing. I hope that the relevant authorities will be able to protect hundreds of houses and thousands of people in the area by taking proactive measures to prevent the collapse of the dam.
