The Dhaka Times Desk The two brothers of Patiya showed a different example at the time when the whole country is in gas and electricity crisis! Two brothers have built a huge biogas plant from which 100 families' cooking and electricity needs are running with the gas produced!
Two brothers from Potiyar Haidgaon in Chittagong Salim Uddin And Jasim Uddin In 2012, he started the construction of biogas plant by taking a loan of Tk 20 lakh from the local Pubali Bank branch. The raw material required for their biogas plant comes from chicken droppings from their established SS Poultry Farm. About 4,000 CFT of gas is produced from the two brothers' biogas plant every day. The gas and electricity needs of around 100 houses in the vicinity are being met from this gas.
The combined efforts of Salim Uddin and Jasim Uddin earn a monthly income of 50 thousand rupees from this biogas plant. Also they get separate income from poultry farm. Two brothers are successful entrepreneurs today as a result of taking this business venture.
The manager of the local Pubali Bank, which gave loans to Salim Uddin and Jasim Uddin for their biogas plant and poultry farm, said, "When the two brothers presented their plans to me, I forwarded their loan to the head office in Dhaka. From there, after two visits, Selim Uddin and Jasim Uddin's biogas plant and SS Poultry Farm were given a loan of Tk 10 lakh and a total of Tk 20 lakh. They are now successful with their project, repaying the loan every month with the proceeds from the biogas plant.”
Meanwhile, Masud Biogas Consultant Firm of Bogra has assisted in the construction of biogas plant of Salim Uddin and Jasim Uddin. The entire project is being carried out with the help of 'Fixed Dome' technology of Bangladesh Science and Industry Research Council.
People who are getting electricity and gas from biogas plant while sharing their experience said, "Though the pressure of this gas is lower than normal gas, still we can do all kinds of cooking with the gas from biogas plant. Also our emergency power needs are being met.”
As a result of this successful initiative of two brothers Salim Uddin and Jasim Uddin, it is believed that their success and self-reliance will encourage the youth of other regions of Bangladesh. And if other unemployed youths like Salim Uddin and Jasim Uddin come forward to take such initiative, the country's gas and electricity needs will be met as well as social development is certain!
