Ahead of Eid, deer-tiger poachers and smugglers have started activities in the Sundarbans. Police and forest guards have already arrested poachers with deer meat from different areas. Red alert has been issued in Sundarbans to keep the situation under control. It is reported that the leave of forest workers has been restricted.

It is known that the activity of smugglers including deer hunters from Sundarbans increases during special seasons. All those groups have become active this time like other times around Eid. The activity of hunters is seen more in Mangla, Chandpai, Jongra, Mrigamari, Dhangmari, Nandbala, Harbaria, Nishanbaria area under Sundarban East division.

Deer meat and live deer were recently recovered from this area of the forest. Poachers were also arrested in some cases. Apart from this, the bandits also kidnap fishermen from time to time and extort ransom. Recently, there was a gun battle between bandits and law and order forces including RAB. In this situation, the forest department started to shake. Following this, the Eastern Forest Department of Sundarbans has issued special alert in 4 stations and 19 camp areas in Chandpai range area. At the same time, steps have been taken to strengthen round-the-clock patrolling by limiting the Eid holidays of the forest guards. The decision was taken at a meeting of forest officials at Chandpai range office in Sundarbans, which has been implemented since last week. It is said that this red alert will be effective for seven days after Eid.

Officials of Sundarbans said that despite the regular patrol activities, the activities of deer-tiger poachers and smugglers increase in Sundarbans every year during Eid and Durga Puja. Poachers have already become active. In this situation, the forest department has strengthened measures to prevent poachers. Necessary activities have been initiated by issuing red alert in the forest area. For this reason, the officers and employees of all stations and patrol posts have been warned. As a result, forest officials believe that it will be possible to prevent criminals including poachers in the Sundarbans.
