It is known that the government has taken such a decision in the interest of national security. The government has decided to rush the purchase of SIMs so that SIMs are not used by selling SIMs at will. Previously, it was activated only by buying a SIM and loading it into the mobile phone. But according to the new rules, the mobile company will launch it only after verifying the information provided by the customer. This measure is being taken so that no one can buy and use SIM under fake name. Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission said in a statement on Saturday that this new guideline will be effective from March 1.
According to the BTRC order, the sale of 'pre-active SIM' (already activated) is prohibited in the country. On October 12, 2012, the directive said that operators can activate the SIM only after confirming the identity of the customer. There is a rule to submit copy of national identity card or copy of passport or any other authentic government document while getting SIM.
But there are allegations that those guidelines of BTRC are not being followed most of the time. SIMs are available from various operators in neighborhood shops and even on sidewalks. There are complaints that copies of national identity cards are collected in some places but many shops do not collect them or even if they are collected, they are not submitted to the company.
There are also many questions about the acceptance of resubmitted national identity cards. It has also been seen that many people are getting SIM by submitting fake national identity card or documents. Also, in some cases, the concerned seller is also alleged to have made fake documents in order to sell the SIM easily. Many times, even if the shopkeeper is given a fake identity card, the shopkeeper doesn't do anything. Because they do not have the ability to recognize the original fake. They do not have time to go to the Election Commission to verify.
But a class of terrorists use all these sims and anti-socialists continue their empire. But due to false information, it is not possible for the law enforcement agencies to identify the culprit. However, it is believed that these problems will be solved when the new guidelines of BTRC are introduced. That is why BTRC has directed the mobile operators to sell SIMs through strict imposition. It has been informed that this order will be implemented from March 1.
It should be noted that BTRC had imposed strict restrictions on the sale of SIM cards earlier. But even if the companies accept it for the first few days, they reach the same situation again after a few days.
