According to the news media, local people have seen as many as 20 dead bodies floating in the Meghna River in the Hatia coastal area of the isolated island of Noakhali. Some of these dead bodies were seen being dragged by dogs.
On Sunday morning, people first noticed the bloated and half-melted bodies of 4 bodies floating in the river in the northern part of Sukhchar Union. After that, the local public found 4 more dead bodies floating in the coastal river near Chairmanghat market. Local people saw them being pulled by dogs. Later, the locals tried to inform the senior officials at different levels of the administration.
Local residents said at least 20 dead bodies were found floating in the coastal Meghna in Chairmanghat, Boubazar, Badshamia village, Charamanullah village and Dhallachar area of Hatiar Sukhchar union. But no one could say where these bodies came from or how they got there. People are believed to have died 3/4 days ago. Locals said that it is not possible to identify them due to melting. There has been a lot of fear among the common people in the area about the floating of dead bodies.
