Dhaka Times Desk Apart from senior Awami League leader Tofail Ahmed and Rashed Khan Menon of Workas Party, six other leaders of the ruling Awami League and one of Jas, the government's partner party, have taken oath as members of the cabinet from the President.
Awami League presidium member Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-Jasdar president Hasanul Haque Inu, parliamentary whip Mujibul Haque and AH Mahmud Ali and Mustafa Farooq Mohammad, serving as presidents of two parliamentary standing committees, are among those who took oath. Apart from this, Rajshahi MP Farooq Chowdhury and Chuadanga MP Abdul Hai took oath as state ministers.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, cabinet members and high-ranking officials of the government were present at the swearing-in ceremony at Bangabhaban today, September 13 in the afternoon. After taking the oath, the new members of the Cabinet came before the President and the Prime Minister and greeted them. And Mujibul Haq saluted by touching his feet.
Tofail Ahmed, Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haque Inu and Mujibul Haque were invited by the government to join the cabinet on Wednesday night, September 12, with one year left in the government's term. Omar Farooq Chowdhury and Abdul Hai were invited to become state ministers. According to that, preparations are also made for the swearing-in ceremony at Bangabhaban.
But on the morning of September 13, Workers' Party president Rashed Khan Menon decided not to join the cabinet in a meeting with members of the Politburo. Tofail Ahmed, a member of the advisory council of the ruling Awami League, gave a similar decision.
It is known that after these two said 'no', Dinajpur MP AH Mahmud Ali and Jessore's Mustafa Farooq Mohammad were invited to take oath as ministers.
