Rezwana's husband was left late at night by the abductors

The Dhaka Times Desk Abu Bakar Siddique, husband of Syeda Rezwana Hasan, executive director of Bangladesh Environmental Law Association (BELA), was finally left by the kidnappers last night. He was rescued by the police.

The abductors left him at the Ansar camp on Mirpur Road in the capital at around two o'clock on Thursday night. Later, the police officers on duty rescued him from the Kalabagan area.

He was rescued from a police check post in Kalabagan and taken to Kalabagan police station.

It is reported that Abu Bakar is currently healthy and Rizwana Hasan and her relatives came to the police station.

Abu Bakar told reporters that he was taken to a house about 3 hours after being picked up in a microbus. He is blindfolded all the time. A few kill-punches are thrown while abducting him. However, he was not tortured after that.

He also said that the abductors also gave him 300 taka in his pocket while dropping him from the car in Ansar Camp area of Mirpur on Thursday night. He first took a rickshaw to his home on Central Road. That rickshaw comes to Kazipara. After getting a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw, he boarded it.

But he could not say anything about why the abductors abducted him and why they released him.

It is to be noted that Syeda Rezwana Hasan's husband Abu Bakar Siddique was taken away at gunpoint from in front of Bhuiya filling station in Fatulla, Narayanganj at 3 o'clock on Wednesday.
