The Dhaka Times Desk A Swedish hobbyist photographer named John Wilhelm has Photoshopped photos of his three daughters into whimsical, heartwarming images. The pictures look like real photography. But they are actually digital art.
John Wilhelm, 44, is an IT director at a Swiss university. He has a special passion for photography and digital art. He is the father of three daughters. He transforms photographs of his wife Judith and daughters at various times into digital art. As a result, the images are as strange as they are funny.
The eldest of his daughters is Lu, aged 5 years and 5 months. Then Mila who is 2 years and 8 months old and the youngest is Yuna who is only 6 months old. In this whimsical photo game of her baby girls, she has selected the best photos that can easily be turned into digital art.
Explaining his quirky work, he says, "Perhaps watching too much TV and playing video games from a very young age has developed a penchant for digital art in me." This is how John points out the main source of his inspiration.
Photography is also a fun subject where you can capture your moments. We all know that photographing with children can be quite difficult at times.
In this context, John says, if you can develop an emotional connection with your children and if you understand them, you can bring out something wonderful from them.
Regarding the pictures, John says he manipulated the pictures but they are not compositions. The images captured by the camera are innovated by changing the surroundings and locations to add variety.
Besides, he does some basic photoshop work on the images including retouching, sharpening, level correction and many more. The images have been altered in such a way that at first glance they appear to be brand new images that have just been taken.
John says about his creativity, I am very fortunate to have grown up in a creative environment. Creativity does not mean that you create something new, or come up with something new through an idea. Rather, I think creativity is about bringing out the good in everything that you can enjoy in your heart and soul.
John also said that candy or chocolate work well to bond with children. John spent about 2 hours on each of these pictures. But he invented a composition himself. Its name is “Sensitive with Little Rocapene”. This composition takes 10 to 12 hours to complete. John does his creative work using Adobe Photoshop CC and NIK filters.
