When asked about this, Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Das Gupta Asim Kumar said that we have received liquidity demand of Tk 19,500 crore from the branch offices based on Eid and Puja. Out of this, 8 thousand crore rupees will be newly provided by the central bank. The rest of the old notes are being supplied with new ones. He said that Bangladesh Bank will officially start distributing new notes from the counters of its branch offices from October 15. Will continue till October 23. Delivery of notes has already started. Similarly, the new notes are going according to the demand in the scheduled banks. In response to the question that the general public does not receive the new notes when they are given to the scheduled banks, he said, it is our responsibility to give the notes to the banks and then it is not possible to see how they distributed them. But the new money is given to ordinary customers, he said.

Dasgupta Asim Kumar said, “There was a demand of around 16 thousand crores in cash last Eid. This time, about four thousand crore rupees are increasing. Out of this, 14 thousand crores will be released from Bangladesh Bank's Motijheel office. The remaining money is being released from other branches of the central bank.” He also said that apart from all the branches of the banks, Bangladesh Bank will decide to supply new notes from around 15 branches of special areas of the capital. But those branches have not been finalized yet.

Warning about fake notes

On the other hand, the authorities are alert that fake note cycle cannot be active around Eid and Puja. On this occasion, the Central Committee held a meeting in the middle of September. Several important decisions have been made there. Among them, fake note detection machines will be installed at the approved animal huts at each city corporation, municipality, upazila and union level under the initiative of Bangladesh Bank, Scheduled Bank and law enforcement agencies. He added, "We law enforcement agencies have been advised to be vigilant in this regard."

Every year on the occasion of Eid, a gang of counterfeiters becomes active. Therefore, everyone should be careful to prevent these fake notes, otherwise these circles will not be able to make any profit, experts think.
