The Dhaka Times Desk Iran claims it was able to build the US spy drone it captured in 2011. The Iranian Revolution Guards displayed a copy of the drone in Tehran last Saturday.
The American spy drone was the RQ-170 Sentinel type of the Lockheed Martin company. Iran displayed the drone in front of its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, at their annual military festival. At this time local media reporters were present there. Thanks to the technology of Iran's Revolutionary Army, they were able to capture the American RQ-170 Sentinel drone in December 2011. The Cyberware Unit of the Revolutionary Army had a strong role in intercepting the drone. The drone was seized from the Iranian city of Kashmar. But the US government initially denied the detentions. But later they confirmed that Iran had captured a CIA drone.
Iran released a video footage last year. They appear to have been able to decode the drone's internal camera. Through this video they claim that they have been able to understand the structure of this drone and that they are able to build another such drone. After seeing this video footage, experts immediately expressed their opinion that the video is true. And Iran has been able to contain the technical aspects of the drone. Iran has been able to do the impossible task that has been talked about for so long. Iran has managed to build an exact replica of the latest drone. David Sinnott, founder of a blog called The Avianist, said it is certainly possible for Iran to make a copy of the drone because its internal system has a storage system and it is not impossible for Iranian engineers to find it.
Sinnott also said in his blog that China has already been able to develop a drone of the RQ-170 model. Even if Iran has such a drone, it is not impossible not to copy it. Sinnott said that Iran could develop a version of this drone that has already achieved positive results by working on a more complex system. Note that earlier Iran was able to make a copy of a complex aircraft called F-14 which was a special type of aircraft made by Israel. A drone is a type of unmanned combat aircraft. It is called in military parlance an Unmanned Air Vehicle or UAV. An RQ-170 Sentinel drone consists of a ground control system, a rocket launcher and a ground data terminal system. By combining these three systems, a drone locates the target object with the help of satellites. It is also used for reconnaissance as it can capture mobile, radio signals of any area.
Iran's new drone was confirmed by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's official Twitter account. In one of his tweets, he thanked all the artists involved.
