The Dhaka Times Desk In 2012, a group of Chinese archaeologists discovered about 80 skulls in the ruins of an ancient city in China. Never before have so many skulls been found together in any ruins. As a result, the findings of this recent study have worried researchers.

The Chinese research team said that the people in these skulls were sacrificed to appease the gods. They also say these people were young women. A total of two skulls were found in the ruins of Xiamo city in northwest China's Shaanxi Province. These people were sacrificed four thousand years ago to appease the gods. The archaeological research team said that most of the skulls found are from the Neolithic period, i.e. the New Stone Age. Incidents like gang clashes or mass violence were commonplace during this period. Besides this, there was a custom of sacrificing the people of the enemy before various auspicious deeds. And in this case, younger women were chosen for sacrifice. Archaeologists also say that these people were sacrificed when the construction work of Shiamo City began.

It is believed to have been a small town in the early stages of this discovery. But after the 2012 discovery, Shiamo is the largest of the few Neolithic cities that have survived. This city was built about 4300 years ago. The city was later declared abandoned during the Jiang Dynasty. Note that in 2005 a group of researchers found a sacrificial altar in this city.
