The Dhaka Times Desk 'Bangladesh National Information Batayan' has been created by combining about 25,000 websites of various government ministries and organizations of the country. This information was launched last Monday. According to information ministry sources, it is the largest web portal in the world today.
On the occasion of Access to Information Project of Bangladesh Press Institute and Prime Minister's Office, an exchange meeting was organized with media representatives at a hotel in the capital last Sunday. Editors of various newspapers, working journalists of electronic media presented their views in the exchange meeting.
www.bangladesh.gov.bd About twenty five thousand websites of all government departments including all Unions, Upazilas, Districts, Departments, Directorates, Ministries of the country have been attached to this website. This portal is planned and implemented by the Prime Minister's Office's Access to Information project. Director of Access to Information Project Kabir Bin Anwar said, 'If the portal is launched in all government offices, it will become easier for people to get information and services. We found this web portal to be the largest in the world. Because there are 61 ministries and departments, 345 directorates, divisions, districts, upazilas, unions and a total of 25 thousand websites.
State Minister of Information and Communication Technology Department Junaid Ahmed said about this, it took two and a half years to collect the information of this web portal. Such web portals have been made to reduce corruption and deliver public services to the doorstep.
