The Dhaka Times Desk The month of Ramadan is very significant for every Muslim. In this month, the great Rabbul Alamin gives special blessings. But every Muslim also has some duties. Today we discussed the duties of Muslims during Ramadan.
Ramadan is the month of mercy, blessing and forgiveness. There are many virtues in this holy month. Devout Muslims fast for a long month. They strive to gain closeness to the Almighty. An opportunity for self-purification has been given in this month. Fasting for a month and keeping oneself free from all kinds of sins is a great duty of this month. These duties must be performed by every Muslim. Because the month of Ramadan will soon pass. But we might lose that opportunity. Every Muslim should make use of this perfect opportunity to get rid of all corruption.
It is said in the Qur'anic verse about fasting - 'O you who believe! Fasting is enjoined upon you as it was enjoined upon those before you. That ye may be temperate. Surah Baqarah, verse 183.
In another verse, Almighty Allah also says - 'Whoever finds that month among you should fast. Surah Baqarah, verse 185. Therefore, as a Muslim, you must fast in this month.
Not only should you fast, you should also pray during this holy month. Because just as fasting is obligatory on every Muslim, prayer is also obligatory. In addition to performing the 5 obligatory prayers in Ramadan, there is another major Sunnah prayer, the Taraweeh prayer. It is a virtue prayer. Fasting all day and going to the mosque with that tired body and offering 20 rakat sunnat prayers is a lot of reward. This Taraweeh prayer is very necessary for every Muslim. Through this a Muslim can achieve self-purification. Many rewards can be achieved by performing this Taraweeh prayer. Because the Holy Quran ends with this prayer. Those of us who do not know how to read the Koran can stand behind the imam and listen to the recitation of the Koran. Along with this, I am also getting the reward of finishing the Qur'an. In this way, every prayer in this month has infinite reward. Moreover, there is in Hadith Sharif, if one rakat prayer is performed in this month, one gets 70 times more reward.
We all sometimes lie unnecessarily. This holy month of Ramadan can be a means of avoiding all those lies. Lying is not allowed in this month or your conscience will be hindered if you lie while fasting. And this will be a good thing for you. Because for the remaining 11 months you will have the habit of not telling lies. Is it more or less for you?
Another thing that is very beautiful in this month of Ramadan is to stay away from disputes. Keeping yourself free from injustice is another great achievement of this month. We needlessly get involved in disputes to get back on track. With the blessing of this month, we can stay away from that dispute easily. We commit wrongdoing at any time knowingly or unknowingly. With the blessing of this month, I can stay away from all those injustices. Again, we talk badly to people unnecessarily. In this month, we can turn it into a good habit by refraining from speaking badly.
Thus we can devote ourselves to good habits by abandoning all bad habits in this holy month. The holy month of Ramadan is devoted to education. We all hope to spend the rest of our lives educated in Ramadan. May the great Rabbul Alamin grant us all that Tawfik - Amen.
