দেশে ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহারকারীর সংখ্যা বর্তমানে প্রায় পৌনে তিন কোটি। আর গত চার বছরে মোবাইল ফোন ব্যবহারকারীর সংখ্যা হয়েছে দ্বিগুণ। স্যামসাং, গুগল, সিসকোর মতো আন্তর্জাতিক খ্যাতিসম্পন্ন প্রতিষ্ঠান বাংলাদেশে তাদের অফিস খুলছে। দেশের তিন হাজারের বেশি শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠানে কম্পিউটার ল্যাব চালু হয়েছে। ২০ হাজার শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠানে মাল্টিমিডিয়া শ্রেণীকক্ষ স্থাপনের কাজ চলছে। এ সবই আমাদের এগিয়ে যাওয়ার স্বাক্ষর। আন্তর্জাতিক প্রযুক্তি সম্মেলন ‘ডিজিটাল ওয়ার্ল্ড ২০১২’ উপলক্ষে সমপ্রতি বাংলাদেশ কম্পিউটার কাউন্সিল মিলনায়তনে আয়োজিত সংবাদ সম্মেলনে তথ্য ও যোগাযোগ প্রযুক্তি (আইসিটি) মন্ত্রী মোস্তফা ফারুক মোহাম্মদ এ তথ্য জানান।

মন্ত্রী বলেন, ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন কার্যক্রম আন্তর্জাতিক পরিসরে তুলে ধরতে বঙ্গবন্ধু আন্তর্জাতিক সম্মেলন কেন্দ্রে ‘ডিজিটাল ওয়ার্ল্ড ২০১২’ আয়োজনের উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে সরকার। ‘সমৃদ্ধির জন্য জ্ঞান’ প্রতিপাদ্য নিয়ে ৬ ডিসেম্বর শুরু হয়ে এ সম্মেলন ৮ ডিসেম্বর পর্যন্ত চলবে। এতে তথ্য ও যোগাযোগ প্রযুক্তিনির্ভর শতাধিক প্রতিষ্ঠান তাদের কার্যক্রম দেখাবে।

‘ডিজিটাল ওয়ার্ল্ড ২০১২’-এর ঊর্ধ্বতন পরামর্শক মুনির হাসান জানান, সম্মেলনে অনুষ্ঠেয় বিভিন্ন সেমিনার ও কর্মশালায় অংশ নেবেন দেশ-বিদেশের তথ্যপ্রযুক্তি বিশেষজ্ঞরা। থাকছে উদ্যোক্তা সম্মেলন, সার্টিফিকেশন কোর্স এবং উদ্যোক্তা মেলা। সম্মেলনের প্রথম দিন থাকছে ‘ডিজিটাল এন্টারপ্রেনার কনফারেন্স’, প্রায় এক হাজারেরও বেশি উদ্যোক্তা এতে অংশ নেবেন। ৭ ডিসেম্বর বাংলাদেশে প্রথমবারের মতো আয়োজন করা হয়েছে ‘ক্লাউড ক্যাম্প’, এতে ক্লাউড কম্পিউটিংয়ের নানা দিক নিয়ে তাত্ত্বিক ও ব্যবহারিক বিষয় নিয়ে আলোচনা করা হবে। একই দিন হবে দিনব্যাপী ফ্রিল্যান্সিং সম্মেলন। দেশীয় ফ্রিল্যান্সারদের সঙ্গে এ সম্মেলনে অংশ নেবেন আন্তর্জাতিক তথ্যপ্রযুক্তিবিদ ও ফ্রিল্যান্সিং সংশ্লিষ্ট বিভিন্ন প্রতিষ্ঠানের শীর্ষ কর্মকর্তারা। থাকছে ‘টেক ব্যাক দ্য টেক’, ‘মিট দ্য লিডারস’, ‘চিলড্রেন্স ডিজিটাল ওয়ার্ল্ড’ অনুষ্ঠান। এ ছাড়া বিভিন্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীদের উদ্ভাবিত বিভিন্ন প্রকল্প, রোবট ও দেশে তৈরি গেইমস প্রদর্শন করা হবে। দর্শনার্থীরা সম্মেলনে বিনা মূল্যে প্রবেশের সুযোগ পাবে।
