The model of the car used in robbery is Premio and a group of 3.4 people were robbing this car in Dhaka city. A team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) engaged in a special operation on 17/7/14 in Mohakhali, Gulshan area. The team learns that some robbers are preparing to rob a white private car.
On seeing the incident, the DB police chased the car. However, the robbers quickly left the place after realizing the presence of the police. When the police asked for the help of the special anti-illegal drug team of the Dhaka city stationed nearby, the illegal drug team of the DB joined them later.
The car was chased by the joint team from both sides on 18/7/14 AD. At about 3.15 am, the night came to a halt near the 1st bridge of Hatirjheel under Badda police station. At that time, the group of robbers staying in the car started shooting at the police from the car, at one point the robbers got down from the car and started shooting at the police. The police also fired back in self-defense. During the shootout, one of the robbers was injured and the other robbers escaped.
According to police sources It is reported that they arrested an injured robber from the spot, and recovered 1 pistol 2 rounds of fresh bullets, 3 rounds of bullet shells and 3 mobiles from him. A white colored Premio Private Car used in the robbery was recovered from the spot. The injured robber was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with the help of Badda Thana police. Doctors later declared him dead.
Meanwhile, the police said that the name of the robber who was injured and later died on the spot is Ghiyas Uddin alias Apon Shafiqul Islam alias Shafiq (27), father-Abdul Malek alias Ruhul Amin, Sang-purva Chanpur, Thana-Senbagh, district-Noakhali. There are more than 15 cases against him including murder, robbery, robbery, weapons cases. The robber had been arrested several times by the DB police earlier.
