The Dhaka Times Desk Eleven people were killed and more than half a hundred people were injured in a train-bus collision in Jhenaidah early this morning. After about 12 hours train movement on Rajshahi-Khulna route was stopped, train communication has been normal again.
Eleven people were killed and more than half a hundred people were injured in a train-bus collision at the railway crossing adjacent to Bar Bazar railway station in Jhenaidah around 4 am today. In that accident, 9 people died on the spot and 2 more later in the hospital. Another 60 to 70 injured have been admitted to Kaliganj and Jessore hospitals. The condition of 10/12 of the injured is said to be critical.
The accident took place on the way home after the traditional marriage of a Hindu. But nothing happened to the bride and groom. Because they were in another car. But the bus carrying the relatives collided with the train and overturned. The injured said that the accident happened because the gate was not provided at the railway crossing. Moreover, since it was dark at that time, nothing could be understood.
Jhenaidah Deputy Commissioner visited the spot after the accident. Two separate investigation committees have been formed by the district administration and the railways.
