The Dhaka Times Desk India and Bangladesh are two countries side by side. And these two countries were divided during the Second World War. Then there is a village in the border area between the borders of the two countries!
The name of the village is Daulatpur. The village is near pillar number 43 of the India-Bangladesh border. About 500 people from both countries live in this village. They have been offering prayers in the same mosque and Eidgah for a long time. Many are bound by ties of kinship. Since the partition of the country in the Second World War in 1947, the people of this village have been tied together. Daulatpur is an inner village of Sukhpukuria union of Chowagacha upazila of Jessore district.
Live outside India's barbed wire, due to which some people in the area are deprived of state facilities. Besides, they don't have any problem. Bangladeshi citizens of that village are ahead in this direction.
It is known that a total of 71 people from 18 families live in the border village of Daulatpur in the Indian part. 36 of them are Indian voters. On the other hand, there are more than 300 people living in around 100 families in Bangladesh. A mosque and an Eidgah were established in 1947 in this part of Bangladesh. Then a primary school was established in 1994. Electricity connection was also provided in this area in 1997. The road was paved during the current government. That is, the citizens of Bangladesh are getting almost all the modern facilities.
On the other hand, the people of Indian territory are deprived of many facilities of that country. No problem in reality though. The people of the two countries are using everything as their own.
Ruhul Amin, head teacher of Daulatpur Government Primary School, said that due to the poor communication system with India, the boys and girls of Indiapara used to come to this school several years ago. Being the same village, they were also admitted here. But now no one attends this school.
The residents of that area said that they have to go to India by submitting the card at the BSF camp. Those who have the card have to write down their names from the regional head. At polling time comes to ask for votes. But once the vote is gone, no one ever looks for it. An Indian in that area said, I have heard many times that there will be roads and electricity for us. But where, not happening.
Tota Mia, Chairman of No. 11 Sukhpukuria Union, told the media that there has been a lot of development in Daulatpur village of Bangladesh. The roads that have not been paved cannot be paved due to BSF obstruction. They say that according to international law, the road should be paved 200 yards away from the main pillar. The road of Bangladesh is located near the border pillar, they are also not able to provide electricity connection and roads for their citizens. In short, citizens are being deprived of opportunities in violation of international law.
