The Dhaka Times Desk HSC 2014 results have been released simultaneously in all education boards yesterday. Overall the results are satisfactory, but Jessore Board results have been disastrous. Students, teachers and students are all shocked by the result disaster in Jessore Board. What caused such a disaster?
This year's 2014 HSC exam pass rate across the country is 78.33. Almost all the boards including Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong are in a fair position, but Jessore board has had a result disaster. Last year the total number of Jessore board examinees was 1 lakh 9 thousand 994. Out of which 74240 passed. And this time a total of 1 lakh 17 thousand 203 students participated in the HSC examination. And passed only 69 thousand 550 people. Less than all the boards in Jessore board. This time the passing rate is only 60.58 in this board. The pass rate of Jessore board is much less than last year. Last year in 2013 Jessore board pass rate was 67.49. Not only the pass rate, but also the number of students who got GPA-5 has decreased. Last year (2013) 4750 students got GPA-5 in HSC from Jessore board. But this time 4231 got GPA-5.
Not only the students but also the parents and even the teachers are shocked by Jessore board result disaster. A teacher said, I have known students who would definitely get a GPA of 5. But they got KO KO 4.2. It can't be like that.' He said, 'I could not believe the results.'
Professor Mohammad Abu Dawood, controller of examination of Jessore board, told the media that most of the students in this board have done badly in English. He said, 'Before the English exam, there was a rumor of question leak, although the rumor was not correct. But because of rumours, candidates get confused, disappointed. I think it has an impact not only on the results of English, but on the results of the whole exam.'
A parent said, 'I was sure my daughter would get a GPA of 5. After getting the result, I saw that the girl got 4.2. I saw the fruit as if it fell from the sky.'
A Commerce student of Jessore Board said, 'I have heard about question paper leaks almost every day before the exam. My classmates called me and said that the question paper was leaked. Many people wanted to give me but I don't have a computer and I don't have a good mobile because of which it was not possible to take these online question papers. My reading and writing has been disturbed from the middle.' The student said, 'I have not read or written a bit since I heard about the leak of the question paper. I just thought, I read and wrote so much throughout the year, and those who did not read and write will get good results after getting the question paper. So what's the use of reading and writing?'
In this way, it is understood how much disaster has happened in Jessore Board in terms of this year's HSC exam results. Rumors of various types of question paper leaks affect good students. Experts believe that this is what happened. And so attention should be paid to ensure that question paper leaks do not happen. After the arrival of the creative method, the radical change in the country's education sector, the mindset of reading the entire book among the students should be retained. Otherwise, not only the results will be disastrous, but many other disasters will happen in the field of education - which is not desired by anyone.
