The country's smallest ancient mosque in Bogra Adamdighi!

The Dhaka Times Desk A few days ago we reported about the largest mosque. But today's news is about the smallest ancient mosque in the country. It is located in Bogra's Adamdighi.

smallest ancient mosque

According to media reports, there are 2 ancient small mosques in Tarapur and Malshan villages of Santahar in Adamdighi of Bogra. Both these mosques stand as a witness of time. No one prays in these mosques built hundreds of years ago. Many people think that these two mosques are the smallest mosques in the subcontinent.

Mosque Small-Borura

According to the news, the Tarapur village mosque is so small that only 3 people can pray together in this mosque. On the other hand, 5 people can pray together in Malshan village mosque. These two historic villages of Tarapur and Malshan are located in Santahar Municipal area of Bogra's Adamdighi Upazila. After crossing the railway line and entering the village of Tarapur, the Talukdar's house is the first to be seen. One of these two small mosques can be found after passing several houses behind this talukdar's house.

It is known that the height of Tarapur village mosque is 15 feet and length-width is 8 feet. The entrance door to the mosque is 4 feet high and only 1.5 feet wide. A man can enter there somehow. The mosque has a slightly elevated dome. Above the dome was a minaret. But it was broken long ago. And the brick wall is one and a half feet thick. The bricks used in the walls of the mosque are very small in size. The door of this mosque has two beautiful arches. The arch of the door, the inner pulpit and the mihrab indicate that the structure is a mosque. The structure made of lime mortar is so old that at first sight it cannot be understood as a mosque.

Local residents of Tarapur village said, 'Rani Bhavani's father's house, wife of King Ramakant of Natore, was in Chatian village next to Santahar town. And Tarapur, along with Santahar, was a part of Rani Bhavani's husband's kingdom and later of Rani Bhavani's kingdom. As a result, Rani Bhavani used to visit this village. It is said that an ascetic Muslim woman named Tarabanu lived in this village. But due to being a predominantly Hindu area, the woman had many difficulties in worshiping, including praying. At some point, Rani Bhabani came to know about this and she herself moved to this village. And in order to keep a special watch on that no one can cause any difficulty in worshiping that woman, including praying, he ordered the soldiers to build a mosque for her. This is how this mosque was built.

On the other hand, there is another mosque in Malshan village similar to the one in Tarapur village. However, Malshan village mosque is slightly bigger than Tarapur mosque in length, width and height. However, the construction style is similar. No one from Malshan village could give any accurate history about this mosque.
