This mosque, destroyed in 638, is located in the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The mosque is surrounded by the Holy Kaaba. Covering an area of 356,800 square meters (or 88.2 acres), the mosque has a seating capacity of 8,20,000.
It has a total of 9 minarets. It is known from history that Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S.) built the Kaqabah and this mosque on the command of Allah. Prayers are performed from any part of the world by directing towards the Kaqabah. On the east side of this Kaqaba house is a black (present color) stone. Tawaf of the Holy Kaaba House is an essential act of Hajj. And in a few days, the world's largest gathering will take place here. Innumerable pilgrims from different parts of the world will gather here.
