According to news media, from now on harassing girls with missed calls on mobile phones will be sent straight to jail. Recently such a law has been made in the Indian state of Bihar. CID Inspector General of Bihar state Arvind Pandey sent a notice containing such an order to all District Superintendents of Police and Government Railway Police last Tuesday. The notice also directed to investigate such incidents with utmost importance and take immediate action.
Arvind Pandey also said, 'It is a serious crime to miss a call on a woman's mobile multiple times. Due to this they suffer from insecurity and their mental peace is disturbed. We have decided to treat the matter as an offense motivated by ulterior motive, under Section 354 (1) and (2) of the IPC.'
However, Arvind Pandey also said, 'Missing a call once or twice should not be considered a crime. But it will be considered an offense if anyone misses calls more than twice with intent to harass.'
