'Fine' for losing the National ID card!

The Dhaka Times Desk Voter ID card is used as National ID card for multi-purpose use. But many people use this card arbitrarily. It is important but ignored. And so often things like losing cards happen. The Election Commission said, from now on, if you lose your National ID card, you will be fined!

Election Commission EC has taken such a decision by taking all aspects into consideration. Because there are frequent cases of card loss. For reasons and reasons, people are acting like losers out of ignorance. Although no fee has been charged for renewing, losing or correcting National ID, the Election Commission is going to make provisions for charging a fixed fee from next January.

According to media sources, Director General of National Identity Card Registration Division, Brigadier General Sultanuzzaman Md. Salehuddin, presented a proposal in this regard in the commission meeting on Wednesday. However, the Election Commission has not yet taken any final decision on this matter. It has been informed that the final decision may come in the next meeting.

The proposal also includes agreements with several banks by December before accepting the fee. Update software should be prepared in the meantime. A massive campaign should be carried out to raise awareness. A few banks will also be discussed before the agreement. Preference will be given to banks having branches at upazila and thana level. According to the National Identity Card Registration Rules-2014 Rule-8 for accepting charges or fees, the general charge for the first renewal of the National Identity Card will be Tk 100 per category. However, the fee of Tk 150 has to be paid in urgent category.

On the other hand, if you want to get a new national identity card due to loss or destruction, the first application is Tk 200 in the general category, Tk 300 if you want to get it on an urgent basis. In case of second application, generally 3000 Taka, 500 Taka on urgent basis. Next every time (in case of multiple applications) 500 rupees in general and 1000 rupees on urgent basis should be added.

The fee can be paid through pay order or bank draft in favor of Election Commission Secretary or through mobile banking or online banking to the number specified by the commission.
