Anup Chetia will be replaced by Noor Hossain

The Dhaka Times Desk India will soon hand over Noor Hossain, the prime accused in the sensational 7 murders of Narayanganj to Bangladesh. The transfer will be subject to a prisoner exchange agreement. Anup Chetia will be replaced by Noor Hossain.

If Nur Hossain, the main accused in the sensational 7 murders of Narayanganj, is handed over to Bangladesh, India will get ULFA leader Anup Chetia back. Indian separatist organization ULFA leader Anup Chetia is now imprisoned in Bangladesh. On the other hand, Noor Hossain, the main accused of 7 murders in Naraganganj, is imprisoned in Kolkata.

Citing a source on Wednesday, Times of India reported that India will send Noor Hossain to Bangladesh this month under the new extradition agreement between the two countries.

However, it is not an exchange, the source said. Noor Hussain's trial is going on in Kolkata and he will be sent to Bangladesh for the sake of trial. On the other hand, Anup Chetia has already served his sentence in Bangladesh for illegally staying in Bangladesh and keeping foreign currency. After that Anup Chetia expressed fear for his life and was placed in protective custody on the orders of the Bangladesh court. Then this top leader of ULFA Anup Chetia wrote in a letter that he wants to return to his country with his other 2 companions Lakshmiprasad Goswami and Babul Sharma who are in Rajshahi jail.

It should be noted that on December 21, 1997, the police arrested Anup Chetia from a house in Mohammadpur area of Dhaka. After his arrest, 3 cases were registered against him for illegal stay in Bangladesh, possession of foreign currency and a satellite phone. Later, the court of Bangladesh sentenced him to 3, 4 and 7 years of rigorous imprisonment respectively in 3 cases. His sentence expired on 25 February 2007.

And after 7 murders in Narayanganj Noor Hossain escaped to India. On the night of June 14, Noor Hossain was arrested along with two companions from Indraprastha residence in Kaikhali area of Baguihati Police Station near Kolkata Airport.
