The Dhaka Times Desk When a strike is called, the car is not taken out for fear of vandalism. But today's strike is an exception. The car owners did not take out the car because it is not being vandalized! We have to see how much more.
Rail-road blockade is going on as announced by Ganajagran Manch to prevent Hefazat Islam's long march. On the other hand, a 24-hour strike has started since Friday evening on the call of 27 like-minded groups including the Khatak Dalal Nirmul Committee of 1971. There are no cars on the streets of the capital. The capital is empty except for very few private cars, CNG and rickshaws!
I remembered that proverb today, 'Niko says you eat, if you have it, where will you get it', the same thing happened again today. People do not take their cars out on the road for fear of vandalism. But today there is no fear of vandalism as no cars hit the road. Even if it is a public holiday, private institutions are open. Due to which the people have to suffer a lot. Some are traveling on foot and others are traveling in rickshaws with extra fare. Many have expressed anger at this situation. Again, many people are saying that in this strike situation, today is 'government strike'!
