A mysterious Adam's Peak has been discovered in Sri Lanka's southwestern border province of Sripada. For thousands of years this Adam's Peak or called 'Adam's Peak' has been carrying a signature of mystery. It is a holy peak for Christians, Hindus, Buddhists and even Muslims.
It is said that Adam, the first father of mankind, fell directly from heaven on this peak. The peak is surrounded by a vast expanse of green, in between there are many high and low hills. There are numerous small rivers and mountain springs around the hilltop. All in all a magical sight.
It is heard that Hazrat Adam (as) fell from heaven in Sri Lanka. And Adi Mata Hazrat Huwa (A) fell in Jerusalem. Distance from Sri Lanka to Jerusalem is thousand kilometers. After much repentance to the great Lord, both met in the Middle East.
And so for a long time there has been a mystery surrounding this peak in Sri Lanka. This peak is called Adam Chura or 'Adam's Peak' because Hazrat Adam (AS) fell on this peak.
It is known that the height of this peak is 7362 feet or 2243 meters. The footprint of Hazrat Adam (AS) on the top measures 5 feet 7 inches, length and width 2 feet 6 inches.
According to Buddhism, this footprint was discovered around 300 BC. The footprints were cordoned off after they were discovered. Hundreds of tourists have visited the peak over the ages. Famous travelers of the world who have visited this peak include Ibn Battuta (1304-1364) and Marco Polo (1254-1324).
It is known that those who have visited this peak have touched the footprints of Hazrat Adam (as) besides visiting its surroundings. Buddhists mostly visit this peak. The followers of this religion think that this peak is the original symbol of their existence.
But reaching this peak is not an easy task. First you have to board a boat or a vehicle that moves on water. Then you have to climb the high mountain on foot. Then from there it is difficult to climb to the top. And various problems can happen in between. Bites from snakes and poisonous insects can kill anyone.
The secret that people have not known for thousands of years is that the place where the foot print of Hazrat Adam (A.S.) is located on the peak, there is no sunlight from January to April and no rain or clouds from May to November.
There are many mysteries surrounding this peak. This wonderful top has remained intact over the years. The beauty has not dimmed even in the storm or anything. And so this 'Adam Chura' is known as holy by the people of the world. That is why it remains a mystery to people. The real mystery has not been solved till date.
